IES/IBO Mission Statement

As part of the global family of schools that is the International Education Systems (IES), Hout Bay International School’s mission is to:

“promote the development of young people who will have the capacity to contribute proactively to the ongoing work towards a better world. Through dynamic programmes, IES (schools) will strive to develop leaders for the future who are collaborative, communicative, enquiring, respectful and creative individuals with a passion for lifelong learning. IES students will be encouraged to integrate effectively in the local, national and international communities through the diverse opportunities afforded to them”.

As an International Baccalaureate World School, Hout Bay also subscribes to the International Baccalaureate mission statement which:

“aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right”.
