Cambridge University IGCSE
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
The IGCSE programme is considered to be the best academic preparation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). At HBIS we teach the content of the IGCSE but with the approaches to learning of the IBDP. At Hout Bay International School all students are entered for the International Certificate of Education which requires a minimum of seven subjects taken from five groups. In addition students take an additional Science and English Literature to sufficiently prepare them for the choices available at the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme level. All IGCSE students are required to take all subjects at the extended level. Therefore students are expected to complete a total of nine subjects.
We will not be taking any external candidates in 2017 due to logistical problems.
